Step 1: Connect Your Trezor Wallet
Begin by connecting your Trezor device (Safe 5, Model T, Model One or Safe 3) to your computer via the USB cable. The device should power on automatically.
- Open your browser (use Chrome or Brave for best compatibility)
- Navigate to trezor.io/start and download Trezor Suite for your OS
- Launch Trezor Suite and authorize the connection on your device by verifying and pressing “Confirm” on the wallet’s touchscreen
- If the connection fails, try another USB port, cable, or install Trezor Bridge if required
Always use official software sources to avoid phishing or malware risks.
Step 2: Update Firmware
Trezor Suite will check if your device firmware is up to date and offer to install the latest version if necessary.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to safely update the firmware
- Do not disconnect your device during the update process
- Firmware updates ensure your wallet stays secure against threats and benefits from new features
Step 3: Create Your Wallet
Choose whether to create a new wallet or recover an existing one.
Create a New Wallet
- Your device will generate a recovery seed phrase — typically 12, 20, or 24 words
- Write down the seed phrase carefully on the provided recovery card; do not photograph or save digitally
- Confirm the phrase by selecting prompted words on your device
Recover Wallet
- Enter your existing recovery seed phrase word by word as prompted on your device to restore your wallet
Securely store your recovery seed offline. It is the critical backup to restore your assets.
Step 4: Set Up PIN Code
Protect your wallet from unauthorized physical access by setting a PIN code.
- Choose a unique PIN using the blind matrix keypad displayed on your Trezor screen
- Enter the PIN twice to confirm
- Avoid obvious sequences like birthdays or repeated numbers
Your PIN is required each time the device is connected and helps safeguard your crypto assets.
Step 5: Activate Cryptocurrencies
You can add multiple cryptocurrency accounts in Trezor Suite.
- Click “Add Account” in Trezor Suite
- Select coins such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, Cardano, and many others
- Wallets will synchronize and show balances securely from the blockchain
Step 6: Receive and Send Cryptocurrency
Receive
- Select the desired cryptocurrency account and click “Receive”
- Verify every receiving address on your Trezor device display — addresses should always match
- Copy the address or use the displayed QR code to provide to senders
Send
- Navigate to the “Send” tab of your chosen account
- Enter the recipient address and the amount you want to send
- Confirm transaction details in Trezor Suite
- Physically confirm the final transaction on your Trezor device screen before broadcasting
Confirming transactions on your Trezor hardware screen protects against malware and phishing attempts.
Step 7: Manage Your Wallet Settings
Take control over your Trezor device with customizable options:
- Modify your PIN and security settings
- Enable or disable passphrase protection for hidden wallets
- Update firmware regularly from within Trezor Suite
- Rename your device or set custom wallpaper for personalization
Personalizing your device while maintaining security creates a better user experience.
